在2007年8月13日此樹有三分一樹幹 在亳無先兆下倒下來，斷位顯示樹腳腐爛，情況不容樂觀．政府成立專家小組進行救亡行動．

Chinese Banyan (Ficus microcarpa) plays a very crucial role in the tree circles of Hong Kong.  Examples are the wall trees in Western District and the Banyan community on Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.  The oldest one in the urban areas is in Kowloon Park.  According to 「The Old and Valuable trees in Hong Kong」 published by Cosmos Books, it is assessed to be of 250 years old and ranks No. 7 on the Tree Age Chart. 

Without any premonition, one third of the tree trunk fell on August 13, 2007.  The wound showed its foot rot.  The conditions are not optimistic and the Government set up a specialist committee to handle the remedy.
